Planetary boundaries
In designing our human systems, we have not been smart so far. Nature is continuously developing through evolution. We humans fix everything for as long as possible and design products with a limited lifespan without considering waste. In addition, we often apply band-aids instead of redesigning something completely.
The consequences
Due to the above reasons, we are now running into problems with planetary boundaries. Biodiversity has declined a great deal (75% fewer insects in Germany and the Netherlands) and the cycles of nitrogen and phosphate have been broken with huge consequences. Climate change is causing instability of weather, floods, hurricanes and forest fires.
It is time to implement solutions inspired by nature which are benificial for mankind (economical and social) and our planet.
